Poet Craig Arnold, a professor at the University of Wyoming who has been involved with numerous Wyoming Humanities Council projects, has been missing on the Japanese volcanic island of Kuchinoerabu-jima since Sunday, April 26. Craig has visited volcanoes in multiple countries as part of his research for a book he’s currently writing on world volcanoes. The Japanese and United States governments have extended the search beyond the three days required by law, so the search will continue tomorrow morning (Japanese time).
For more detailed information, see the University of Wyoming news release. Craig’s family members have also set up a Find Craig Arnold Facebook group to collect and disseminate up-to-the-minute news about the search, and a Find Craig Arnold blog, which reports confirmed news for those without Facebook accounts.
