Paul Dyck Plains Indian Buffalo Culture Preview

Eighteen beautiful objects from the Paul Dyck Plains Indian Buffalo Culture Collection are now on view in the Plains Indian Museum Land of Many Gifts Gallery. This is the second round of objects from the collection, totaling over 2,000 artifacts, to be displayed.

African Perspectives: Through the Eyes of Nancy-Carroll Draper

Featuring more than thirty images taken by Nancy-Carroll Draper (1922-2008), African Perspective: Through the Eye of Nancy-Carroll Draper – A Tribute to Vision, is an interactive, digital experience presented on a 47-inch monitor. The exhibition allows visitors to select and view images; see the details and further deepen their experience of the beauty and wildness of Africa.

Book Discussion- The End of Baseball

The Natrona County Public Library is playing host to the traveling exhibit Pride and Passion: the African-American Baseball Experience, offering citizens the chance to learn something new about America’s favorite pastime. In conjunction with the exhibit, a book discussion will be held covering the fictional story, “The End of Baseball” by sportswriter Peter Schilling.

JH Land Trust Panel on Ranching 2010
Tuesday, December 15, 6:00 pm
The panel will feature local ranch managers and agricultural producers.  The public conversation, led by the Land Trust, will shed light on the current state of ranching in Teton County, and speak to how conservation easements work to preserve working ranches.  Panel members will discuss some of the challenges to ranching in the modern era as well as share stories of days gone by.  The discussion accompanies a photography exhibit by Anne Muller entitled:  “Land. Trust. Ranching in Their Hands” that will be on display at the library from December 14-January 28th.

Featured Film: The Pope’s Toilet. It’s 1988, and Melo, a Uruguayan town on the Brazilian border, awaits the visit of Pope John Paul II.  50,000 people are expected to attend, and the most humble locals believe that selling food and drink to the multitude will make them rich.  Petty smuggler Beto thinks he has the best idea of all – to build a WC in front of his house and charge for its use.  His efforts bring about unexpected consequences, and the final results will surprise everyone.
